PCOS TESTING
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women.
PCOS is a hormonal condition. Some of the hormones that are affected by PCOS include insulin and androgen (testosterone). Women with PCOS often have high levels of insulin that does not work properly or higher levels of androgen or both. Normally women make small amounts of androgen but in women with PCOS, they make slightly more androgen.
PCOS diagnosis usually involves a combination of blood tests, symptom identification, and an ultrasound test.
Although very few women have the same symptoms, common symptoms include:
-
Irregular or absent menstrual periods
-
Weight gain
-
Acne
-
Excess facial or body hair
-
Thinning scalp hair
-
Mood changes- anxiety and depression

Our STI/STD test is a reliable and confidential way for anyone to screen for sexually transmitted infections/diseases (STIs/STDs) and take control of their sexual health. Our STI/STD test screens for a range of common infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV.
The STI/STD test is conducted at any Australian authorised pathology centre and typically involves a simple blood or urine sample. The results of the test are usually available within a few days, and our experienced doctors can provide you with support and guidance if your results are positive.
